Far-Infrared Therapy (FIR) – The Benefits

What is Far-Infrared Therapy (FIR) and what does it do:
Far-Infrared Rays are waves of energy, totally invisible to the naked eye, which penetrate the surface of the skin where they gently and elevate the body’s surface temperature to 107.6F/42C and above, whilst positively activating body systems and functions.
FIR Therapy is a type of low energy therapy that takes advantage of the heat generated by waves of energy from the far end of the infrared spectrum. This safe and natural alternative therapy can be used in the treatment of a variety of health problems such as arthritis, muscle pain and spasms and shoulder or joint stiffness.
Far Infrared therapy also has many roles in the human body. These include detoxification, pain relief, reduction of muscle tension, relaxation, improved circulation, weight loss, skin purification, lowered side effects of diabetes, boosting of the immune system and lowering of blood pressure.
Relaxation and pain/aches management
Far infrared waves can penetrate up to three inches deep penetrate deep through the layers of the skin, to the muscles and bones,to generate warmth that can provide immense relief to muscles and joint. The gentle heat produced in far infrared heat therapy exerts an analgesic effect and can help reduce or eliminate chronic pains that seniors often experience in various parts of the body. Stiffness in the joints from arthritis can be significantly relieved. Studies show that far infrared heat makes connective tissue more flexible, permits greater joint movement and brings about increased levels of endorphins, which ease pain.
Improve detoxification
Far-Infrared thereby helps promotes the elimination of fats, chemicals and toxins from the blood: poisons, heavy metals, lactic acid, free fatty acids, and subcutaneous fat associated with aging and fatigue – excess sodium associated with blood pressure – and uric acid. Where these toxins accumulate, blood circulation is blocked and cellular energy is impaired. Elimination begins when an 8-10 micron Far-Infrared wave is applied to these large water molecules and the water begins to vibrate. This vibration reduces the ion bonds of the atoms that are holding together the molecules of water. As the vibration continues, breakdown of the water molecules occurs and encapsulated gases and other toxic materials are released.
Injury Rehabilitation
Far infrared therapy for injury rehabilitation is highly regarded and sought after as one of the best forms of treatment. Infrared therapy has been known to treat ankle sprains, back injuries, deep muscle tissue injuries. In fact, many athletes look to infrared therapy to treat their sports injuries because it is non-invasive, beneficial, and fast acting. According to Practical Pain Management, infrared therapy stimulates the body’s natural healing properties, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation. All of which aid in the healing of injuries.
Improved sleep and Better stress response
Because of the muscle relaxing effect of the infrared sauna as well as its ability to improve your mood, it helps you to sleep better. The detoxing also helps your body to function better, so in addition to sleeping well, you will have more energy and not just because of sleeping well, but because your body is free of junk. The heat from the infrared sauna triggers a protective stress response as well as boosting your endorphins (the happy hormones) which reduce your stress levels and the excess stress hormones that have a negative effect on your health.
